Summer 2011 Program Description Information

Summer is right around the corner and we have amazing things planned at InterAction! Whether you're a Triple Threat Sensation, budding Paleontologist, Superhero, Secret Agent, Artist, Film Maker, or Shakespeare fan, we have the best camps for creative kids in the region. Our counsellors are inspiring, outgoing, and and have years of experience working with young people, and the kids come back year after year!  No experience is necessary to participate, just the desire to learn, make friends, and have fun! 

June 27th-30th

Ages 4-8 AND Ages 9-16 Musical Theatre Mash-Ups: a GLEEful week of Singing and Dancing to your favourite songs with a public performance on Thursday June 30th!

July 4th-8th

Ages 4-8 a.m. Dino Hunters: Dinosaurs may be lurking in our midst, and you can learn all about them as we learn how to be a Palaeontologist. We'll play games, do craft activities, and go on a dig!

Ages 4-8 p.m. Mad Scientists: Calling all Einsteins, Galileos, Newtons, and Hawkings! Let's do experiments, learn about the world we live in, and the stars!

Ages 8-16 (full day, week one of two) Shakespeare in the Park: This will be our 5th summer performing Shakespeare LIVE in Riverside Park. A wonderful 2 week camp for beginner or experienced actors, we will perform some of Shakespeare's most exciting scenes, including pieces from The Tempset, MacBeth, Hamlet, Taming of the Shrew, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Performance on Friday evening July 15th at 7 p.m.

July 11th-15th

Ages 4-8 a.m.  I Made This!: Tie-dyed t-shirts, Musical Instruments, Larger than Life Murals, Claymation movies, Giant Forts...and on the last day, our own "Gallery Hop" for Moms and Dads! You'll be so proud to say "I Made This"!

Ages 4-8 p.m. Storybook Theatre: "And then the Princess opened the castle door and the Dragon said..." There are so many wonderful stories we can act out, from classic fairy tales to ideas from our own imaginations! This camp will perform during the Shakespeare in the Park performance on Friday evening July 15th at 7 p.m.

Ages 8-16 (full day, week two of two) Shakespeare in the Park: This will be our 5th summer performing Shakespeare LIVE in Riverside Park. July 18th-22nd

Ages 4-8 full day with half day option Superhero Kids:  What's your super power? Running fast, solving puzzles, making up riddles, learning big words, catching bad guys? Every kid is a Superhero, and we'll make costumes, stories, play games, and go on awesome adventures! 

Ages 8-16 (full day, week one of two) Movie Makers: This is one of our all-time most popular camps, with the participants becoming great friends while they create a "feature" length film, as well as trailers for other films (and then there's the blooper reel!). We need actors, directors, writers, producers, and more as we take a story from script to story board to film to our famous "Red Carpet Premiere" on Friday July 29th at 7 p.m.

July 25th-29th 

Ages 4-8 full day with half day option Lights! Camera! Action: Our great instructors will help you learn all about movie making, and we'll have so much fun making our own short film. This camp will also be featured in our Red Carpet Premiere on Friday July 29th at 7 p.m.

Ages 8-16 (full day, week two of two) Movie Makers: This is one of our all-time most popular camps, with the participants becoming great friends while they create a "feature" length film, as well as trailers for other films (and then there's the blooper reel!). August 2nd-5th

August 8th-12th

Ages 4-8 a.m. Secret Agents: There's a Mystery to Solve, and who are we gonna call? IACT's Secret Agent Club! From Diamond Thieves to Missing Treasure Chests, out Secret Agents have over 10 years of Sleuthing, and they're willing to share their secret detective skills with you! 

Ages 4-8 p.m. Around the World: Want to know how kids just like you but in other countries have fun in the summer? We'll learn songs, games, stories, and make food from all over the world.

Ages 8-16 (full day, week one of two) Musical Mystery Dinner Theatre: Last summer, over 200 people attended our Musical Dinner Theatre performance of "Who is Q", raising money for the Anne Elman Scholarship for Children in the Arts. We will learn songs, choreography, and text and perform a Two Act Musical production, starring YOU!

August 15th-19th

Ages 4-8 full day with a half-day option Sing, Dance and Play!: We'll learn our own songs and dances in a fun and playful environment and we'll perform as part of the Musical Mystery Dinner Theatre!

 Ages 8-16 (full day, week two of two) Musical Mystery Dinner Theatre: Last summer, over 200 people attended our Musical Dinner Theatre performance of "Who is Q", raising money for the Anne Elman Scholarship for Children in the Arts. We will learn songs, choreography, and text and perform a Two Act Musical production, starring YOU!
